Forgetting to send an attachment in an email is a very common mistake people make. What if there was a nifty tool which reminded us whenever we forgot an attachment? The Gmail Labs feature ‘Forgotten Attachment Detector’ does exactly that.
If the words ‘attachment’ or ‘attached’ appear in the email you are sending out, but you forget to attach the document and click the ‘Send’ button, then this tool will remind you that you probably forgot to attach something. It will display a prompt asking you to confirm whether you indeed forgot the attachment or you don’t want to send an attachment, something similar to the image below. You can either rectify your mistake and save yourself from embarrassment or send the email anyway if that was your original intention.
This tool comes in very handy. For instance, when you shoot out that email to your friends about your latest trip to Las Vegas, but forget to attach the photos. Or that invitation to your party with the missing attachment of driving directions. Or when you email your job application but forget to attach your resume!! Be it any situation, this tool will definitely serve you well.
How do you get this feature? Simple! Log in to your Gmail account. Click on ‘Settings’ located at the right hand upper corner of your screen. Click on the ‘Labs’ tab. Scroll down until you see the ‘Forgotten Attachment Detector’ feature and enable it. Save your changes and voila, the next time you forget to send an attachment, the tool will do its job. Rest assured that you will never ever forget to send an attachment from thereon.
You don’t want the feature anymore? Just disable it in your account. Can it get any simpler?
Please note that this tool is still in experimental stages. If you are not satisfied with this feature, you can let the Gmail team know.
