You work hard. You are dedicated. You put in the hours day after day after day. You rarely take a vacation. Why? Vacation is a way to renew your mind and your body. It is a way to refresh your thoughts and energize idea generation. It is one of the best productivity tools that you possess.
After vacation, you work harder, approach issues with a new vigor and calmly deal with relationship stresses and strains at the office.
You worry that you will lose your job if you take a vacation, and the opposite rings true. It benefits your job. You think about things differently after a break from it all. You may be able to apply something to your job that you learned reading an article or book while you were off. The European culture embodies an expectation of taking ‘holiday’. It is an expectation. Most of the people I meet while traveling abroad are from a European country or Japan, cultures that encourage holidays.
Consider breaking out of your routine and taking a break from it all. I recently returned from the islands, and cannot express in mere words the amazing rejuvenation and refreshed attitude that you return with. Give yourself a breather. Take some time to renew your body and refresh your mind. You will be glad that you did.
