One of the biggest inhibitors to success is our aptitude for whining and complaining. It falls into a category of non-productive chatter that permeates the employees around us and reflects poorly on us. If we funnel this energy into solving problems, we can become strong company assets.
You can advance higher in leadership if you can accept that words should be paired with a potential solution that you recommend as well. If you don’t have a solution in mind, might I suggest you keep the problem quiet until at which time you have a thoroughly thought through solution. Try to remain positive. If there are problems, I suggest not discussing them unless you are participating in a problem solving discussion. Try to build each other up, and work to create a positive work environment that both you and others can enjoy.
Complaining is a habit that can keep you from excelling. It can keep you from making more money than you are making today. It can keep you from your next position and your next promotion. Motivate yourself to funnel energy into solving problems and become a strong company asset. Your bank account will be glad that you did.
