Want to be CEO? Don’t let the economy alter your aspirations. If you have a ‘next job’ in mind, continue to prepare for it: use mentoring relationships and continue to hone your skill-sets. Many of you are not chasing your educational goals or dreams because of the recession. You can continue to work hard and produce value while still preparing for your next role. Don’t settle. Don’t give up on your dreams.
Do you know what position you want to have? This is an important part of getting there. Many times companies are not great at helping you to create a career path. You shouldn’t let that stop you. Create your own career path. Create a vision for where you’d like to go. Once you have a clear vision, it is easier to see which opportunities push you towards that vision and which ones push you further away. If you communicate your goals, it will help those around you to aid you in your journey.
What is the vision that you have for yourself? What does your next job look like? Create a vision and a career path that drives you into your future. You are in control of your career path and your next job. Start working on both.
