Your planning job wasn’t over when you announced your major in college or decided what to do ‘when you grew up’. Planning for your future is a constant part of your responsibilities going forward. You need to think about the progression you would like to take in your career no matter what point in your career you are. Do you have a goal of a particular position that you would like to have?
Having a career path pre-figured out can help you make career choices as you go throughout life. It doesn’t always work out the way you have planned, I recognize that. But having a plan is a precursor to success. You should be able to make updates to this plan annually when you do your annual reviews. See tips on writing your annual reviews in the blog on Self Evaluations.
The path that you determine for yourself will help you when you receive job offers. Your career goals will help you make decisions necessary to further your career.
