When did we get so darned serious?
Yeah, things are rough. There’s a lot of stress, a lot to worry about. Work never ends – if you’re lucky enough to have a job.
But … playing around is an investment in yourself. In your sanity, in your health. It’s part of the balance of life that helps make life worth living.
You had a chance to go out and shoot hoops a few weeks ago. Congratulations – that’s a start. But I’m not so much talking about exercise, which of course is also good.
This is about having fun… incorporate play time in your daily routine. Farting around. Making jokes. Laughing. Wasting time.
Research has shown that one minute of laughing can affect you for an hour. Really. So why wouldn’t you give yourself permission for that one minute of pleasure, if only to make your day more productive because of the energy it produces?
But I also don’t believe that life is all about being productive. Sure, you need to do good work so that someone will continue to pay you so you can have a life. No problem.
Life is also about experiencing life. The ups and downs. Yes, you should help someone grieve and cry. You should share their joy and help them to have joy.
It’s good for the soul.
