One thing that I’ve discovered on my speaking/writing/blogging journey is that there are more resources available to you than you may realize. It is never too late, and never unrealistic to consider reinventing yourself into a new job. Whether you are jobless or just unhappy in your current position, consider reinventing yourself into a new field and a new occupation.
You can put yourself into a position in life where you do what you enjoy doing most of your day. There are areas of the economy that are lagging, yes, but there are also areas that are on the rise. Every recession has winners and losers. In health care, we consistently are faced with needs for CNAs, RNs, physicians of all types, information technology resources, and organizational development resources just to name a few. Every field has positions that they are in need of. Find those areas and focus on positions that involve tasks, projects, and roles that you love to do.
Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Resources abound if you are interested in finding the motivation and encouragement to do it. Reinvent yourself. You hold the keys to your future. Wake up to a new day as a new you (in a new job).
